There Is a Big Problem in the Church

DICI has just published an interview with Fr. Niklaus Pfluger, First Assistant of the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X. In the interview Pfluger states that Bishop Fellay – the superior general of the Society - has no secret plan or strategy in dealing with Rome. We have to respond to a new situation – Pfluger comments. According to him, there is a big problem in the Church. Some want to retreat to a kind of ghetto thinking that they can wait until the crisis is over – he explains and adds: “This is not a Catholic position; it is rather a weakness of faith.”

Jubilee of Gregorian Chant Abbey

Vatican

Pope Benedict has named Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, as his envoy to celebrate the millennium of the founding of St. Peter’s Abbey in Solesmes [= Soläm], France, on October 12. In his Latin-language letter announcing the appointment, Pope Benedict noted that for many generations the monks have served God with “diligent prayer and labor, but especially with most beautiful Gregorian chant, which is very greatly cultivated by the monks there.” The abbey has been renowned for its chant since its restoration by Dom Prosper Guéranger in 1833.
