Lay-Presidents of Jesuit Universities Favor Pro-Death-Candidates

Three laymen recently named presidents of Jesuit universities have contributed to candidates who favor legalized abortion, according to federal election records. They are: David W. Burcham, the new president of Loyola Marymount University. He donated $500 to the presidential campaign of John Edwards in 2003 and $250 to the campaign of Rep. Maxine Waters in 2009. John Hurley, the new president of Canisius College, donated $4,500 to the campaign of Rep. Brian Higgins since 2004. Thayne McCulloh, the new president of Gonzaga University, donated $1,500 to Obama for America and the Obama Victory Fund in 2008.
Priest Files Defamation Suit Against Two Other Priests

Father John Harrington, a priest of the Fall River diocese in Massachusetts has filed a defamation suit against two other priests of his diocese, including the vicar general. Father Harrington named two pastors in the town of Falmouth—Msgr. John Perry, the vicar general, and Father William Costello—as defendants in his suit. Father Harrington has served in Falmouth. He charges that the other two priests spread a baseless rumor about his private conduct. He filed a civil lawsuit after failing in months of efforts to persuade diocesan officials to defend his reputation.
Quadriplegic Woman Awarded in France

The French Légion d’honneur, the nation’s highest award, has been conferred upon Maryannick Pavageau a quadriplegic woman for her efforts on behalf of the handicapped. Pavageau, who has required constant and intensive medical care since she suffered a debilitating stroke in 1989, has become a leading opponent of euthanasia.
