Uno de los más famosos y antiguos mercadillos de Navidad es el Mercadillo del Niño Jesús de Augsburgo. Desde hace más de 500 años, el mercadillo se levanta ante el imponente Ayuntamiento renacentista. Uno de los más famosos y antiguos mercadillos de Navidad es el Mercadillo del Niño Jesús de Augsburgo. Desde hace más de 500 años, el mercadillo se levanta ante el imponente Ayuntamiento renacentista. El punto culminante es la "música de los ángeles de Augsburgo" ("Augsburger Engelsspiel"), cuando los ángeles de la ciudad hacen sonar sus instrumentos en el mercadillo de Navidad y el Ayuntamiento renacentista se convierte en un gigantesco calendario de Adviento. En torno al mercadillo de Navidad, en la calle de los cuentos ("Augsburger Märchenstraße"), se representa la historia "Navidades en Bullerbü" ("Weihnachten in Bullerbü"). La narración cobra vida a través de nueve imágenes animadas, según el relato de Astrid Lindgren.
