The negative certainly OUTWEIGHS any good here, if one were to even remotely conceive anything good in this.
We're talking SOULS here! Not him wearing all the Pontificals of his rank, whom surely many would believe of deserving of!
Let's get real here and HONEST. How on earth is this man leading people to Heaven? Example? His FIRST responsiblity is to SAVE SOULS, not destroy them!
Pro homosexuals …

Pro homosexuals in the priesthood? Yes, he's all for it! Great example!

@ Rhemes and Greg - One ought to always see the good first, never start with a negative. AND as I pointed out, the use of real bread is the original thing (do you think that Our Lord had waffers made specially for His last supper??? Of course not). The Alexandrian Rite still uses it as well as the Greeks (but then they do not have tabernacles in which it can spoil.....). The vestments are indeed …More

NEVER only see or point out the negative even though in the end the conclusion must be negative. This is a balanced opinion: while these things are in place and laudable, those things are not. The negavtives out weigh the positives and so one can only conclude negatively. This is what I did. In this way one keeps irrational emotions at bay....Nothing in this world is ALL negative dears!! 🤗

@ Rhemes - It rather seems that you folk do not speak or read English well. Please, do, re-read my post. I do not defend him at all - I just try to offer a balanced and considered view.

Being the sedevacantist that you are Trady you have a lonely road ahead of you. You'll convince nobody but yourself as you talk to yourself about your own misconceptions of a Catholic Faith that you are no longer a part of. This is a Catholic website who recognizes Pope Benedict XVI so you are alone in your dialogue. The more you post the more you are talking to yourself.

Trady can you read? I said INSTEAD of being at a rock concert they are going to receive the Eucharist.

The youth don't have to go to a "rock concert"...They can go to church for their "rock concert"! who is there that is going around to catch the fragments falling all over? THIS is Nothing but an ABOMINATION! No excuses!
This prelate is a well known homosexual advocate, amongst numerous other things which he brazenly promotes! Poor youth!

One must take into account that this is titled as a "Youth Mass" and it is a good thing that instead of being at a rock concert these youth are about to receive the Eucharist.

In the video site you posted....one can see the awfulness of those people being given "communion" in that form of bread. the people were holding it, taking bites, while surely there had to be crumbs and fragments left in their hands and where did they put their hands next? Not to mention falling onto the floor. Its as though this prelaate is doing this on purpose for some vindictive reason …More

They must of thought the youth would certainly take to their tye-dye looking "vestments"...Yep; let's just fit in with the youth of today, rather than to bring back true orthodoxy to them, ...is it a wonder that so many people do not know their faith, when you have clergy and even Cardinals lowering themselves to the level of any LAY person. Truly, they have lost the faith. Mercy!

Let us put this in good Patristic perspective:
1. According to the Didache -2nd Century (sited by Dr Fortesque in his study "The Origins of the Roman Rite"), and the Chronicles of Egeria - 4th Century: The people brought loves of bread to the Eucharist and these loves (real unleavened loves of bread) were taken in procession to the sanctuary.

After these loves were blessed they were placed on the altar. At the 'Agnus Dei' and after the epiklesis, these loves, now the Body and Blood of the Christ, were broken up on a large corporal and placed into dishes to be distributed to the people. In a similar way, the chalices of the Blood were distributed to the people. This was the earliest form of a structured communion rite.

In this video, we see a similar thing happening, with real unleaven bread. This pre-dates anything that the Council of Trent promulgated. Therefore, in this, Schonborn is quite in line with the Apostolic tradition.

2. Note that His Eminence is wearing all the Pontificals of his Rank: the Red Zuchetto, Mitre, Ring, Pallium. The Mass vestments are all present. Therefore, this would suggests that he is quite faithful to Roman customs of attire. He is trying to be a Roman presence among the people.

3. However: The trouble with this video is that the music and liturgical praxis is unsuitable for a Roman Catholic Mass. Even in Apostolic times and thereafter, an "Overseer" or Bishop required many altar lights and much more ceremony - far less a 'Prince of the Church' (Cardinal). The music is not suitable for the Christian Sacred Space on account of its saecular connotations and orgins. This is the scandal and it's nothing new - we just have to go back into the "Opera Masses" of Mozart et Co. and the Church's condemnation of same at the 1st Council of the Vatican. The Church pronounced that Mass was not a concert, but a sacrifice of love unto the Father.

In fine, this is yet another example of Clergy being held at the throat by the people - ruled by the people. The tail is wagging the dog, whereas it must be the other way! The Cardinal is present as such, but has failed to instruct in good liturgical praxis and music through his condoning a Protestant-esque celebration. Herein lies the problem: in trying to please all, His Eminence has offended the most important, viz. the dignity of Jesus in his Body, the People!

That looked more like a rock concert than a Holy Mass. 🤬

How anyone could take this Cardinal serious, about anything, other than how to destroy the faith.
