Gloria TV News on the Feast of St. Fabian.
Three Month Earlier
UK
Yesterday it was announced that the new English translation of the Order of Mass will be used in parishes in England and Wales from September - three months before the new English Missal is published in Advent. This – according to the Bishops’ Conference - would provide an opportunity for “in-depth catechesis on the Eucharist and renewed devotion in the manner of its celebration”. The bishops also announced the creation of a website and a DVD to prepare the faithful for the transition.
He Does Not Want To Burn Down Bridges
UK
Father Keith Newton, the first personal ordinariate for Anglicans entering the Catholic Church, told a press conference that he hopes that his ordinariate may be permitted to share in the use of some Anglican parishes. “We don’t want to be burning bridges down,” he added. “I certainly do not look back on the Church of England with anger or bitterness. This move is part of my on-going pilgrimage, and …More

Well! I guess that says it all. Point well taken-men should definately complement a woman and recognize their efforts in both beauty and etiquette. The problem with most men is either overdoing or underdoing the complements. Sincerity is the most important aspect in the complementing.

Let us say that a man neglects to compliment a woman when she has made a considerable effort to look nice for her date with him. Furthermore, perhaps the man might even suggest that Mother Theresa or any of the Missionaries of Charity would not be interested in receiving superficial complements and neither should she. If that were to happen, then, I would simply tell such a man that the next time he wants a date for a movie and dinner, he should ask one of the Missionaries of Charity to go with him.

😁

Buona sera!

Doina, both you and Donna are beautiful women, I was just making an observation that our world society puts too much emphasis on image. Men should compliment women more often in a gentle and respectful way. I definately compliment Donna's choice of names-"Donna the Prima Donna" is my favorite song by Dion DiMucci-the singer famous for so many hits who by the way is a devout Catholic! I think Dion is about 71 or 72 now but he is going strong and still performs. I actually put "Donna the Prima Donna" video up on Gloria about a year ago!

I agree with most of the things you write. 👌
..and still, pity Donna is not a man... 😉 😀

A saint woman is not less woman. Therefore, I am sure nice compliments will not be unpleasant even to her. 👍 😉

Unfortunately becoming focused on superficial things in life will become less important as someone matures. A woman or a man should always try to look their best but "looks" are deceiving. Unfortunately becoming focused on superficial things in life will become less important as someone matures. A woman or a man should always try to look their best but "looks" are deceiving. Good looking women and good looking men are a dime a dozen and a man or a woman can bathe in Oil of Olay 24 hours a day and they are still going to get old. If one becomes overly focused on ones appearence vanity takes over the entire purpose of existence. There is always going to be a younger and prettier woman to come along and de-throne the would-be goddess. Just as with men too if you look at Robert Redford 40 years ago or Ann Margaret 40 years ago and then look at the both of them today you see the futility of putting any importance on beauty-it is fleeting! "Every Dog Has His Day"-as every woman and man has there day of cuteness! Look nice but don't put too much importance on it. The same guy that gives a beautiful woman a nod and a wink has probably done it to another 100 women that same day-sorry ladies, your character and spiritual life are of more attractiveness to a man in the end!

Dear Doina,
As usual, you look very nice today and I love the flowered pattern on your dress along with the tasteful accessories. I believe that only petite women like you could successfully wear such a pattern and still look good.

Getting back to something you wrote yesterday, I agree that men, for any number of reasons, are unwilling to compliment women even when that women has obviously made considerable effort to look her best. Perhaps it's cowardice, shyness, negligence, or dullness of intellect...whatever the reason, it is not acceptable.

🤬

Men expect us to look good and are proud to be seen with an attractive, cultured and tastefully dressed woman but where is the acknowledgment? Women are human beings with sensitivities that are incomprehensible to most men. We not only appreciate compliments when we cook a tasty meal but also when we spend considerable time in trying to look our best. Women are “hard wired” differently than men and we do care what other people think about us. When given courteously and respectfully, a compliment boosts self-esteem and, for those of us who are not yet saints, we thrive on that.

😁

The secret is to make the woman feel good about themselves so my advice for men is to wake up. When done honestly and respectfully, a compliment can be the quickest way to a woman's heart.

👏

Salute!
😊
