To focus on this one of a trillion facts on Medjugorje and the millions of conversions to the Catholic faith that have come from there is like fretting at a speck of dust upon a Rembrandt...

Our Lady has NEVER gone against what the Church has held. Nor has She ever said this to any other "seer". Again, Blessed Ann Catherine Emmerick, and Venerable Mary of Agreda who was Chosen by Our Lady and our Lord to WRITE the book she wrote and was even Dictated by Our Lady Herself! So Venerable Mary of Agreda is going to write in error when Our Lady Herself CHOSE Venerable Mary to Write this book. I think not.

This is something very disconcerting to say the least!

Oh quite..... compared with : unborn children being murdered every day, nations exacting unjust taxes and laws, and the leaders of our ancient Patriarchal Sees struggling to speak out against an unjust world...... the birthday of Our Lady is obscenely irrelevant.

However, I do get your point that one accepts the Church's rule, not that of an individual - private revelation or not!

@Rope

I was obviusly being facetious when I earlier wrote:
Evidently you are unaware that alleged “private revelations” always trump what is held by the Universal Church.

For those who adhere to what is held by the Universal Church, you are absolutely correct in that we celebrate Our Lady's birthday on September 8.

No one is held or forced to believe in private revelations. Fatima & Lourdes, although approved by the Church are not required by the Church to be accepted by Catholics since even approved apparitions fall into the catagory of private revelation.

Whether Our Lady was born on December 8th, August 5th OR January 4th....... tis all irrelevant to the salvation of souls!!!!

Generally speaking, yes. However, the more important issue is whether or not one will submit to what is held by the Universal Church or not.

Whether Our Lady was born on December 8th, August 5th OR January 4th....... tis all irrelevant to the salvation of souls!!!! Do take care not to get caught up in minutiae of no consequence. There are more important things, e.g. the Depositum Fidei ! (Which actually has a bearing on our Salvation....).

Our Lady must know when she was born! The Church celebrates the birth of Christ on December 25th and even Pope Benedict XVI will not argue that this date is historically accurate. If someone tells you your incorrect birthdate it is ok to correct them! Vicka was told by Our Lady that her birthdate differed from what was previously believed-I'll take Our Lady's word on the date SHE said She was born!

You may want to tell Vicka that Our Lady's real birthday is September 8th, not Aug. 5th as she proclaims.
