New Group Joins Anglo-Catholic Ordinariate

USA

The Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church has announced yesterday that it has accepted the apostolic constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus. The group will now seek entry in the soon to be US Catholic ordinariate for Anglicans. The reasons for this move are: the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church shares the Anglican liturgy, it has accepted the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and it wants to undo the Reformation. The group broke off several years ago with the Lutheran Church of the Synod of Missouri. It has about 11.000 members worldwide, almost all in the US, Sudan and Germany.

Marriage Does Not Belong to the State

UK

Archbishop Peter Smith of Southwark has strongly criticized the British Government’s intention to include into the definition of marriage also same-sex couples. Smith said the Church would oppose the plans “in the strongest terms”. He argued that marriage “did not belong to the state”. Quote: “It is a fundamental human institution rooted in human nature itself.” And: “No authority – civil or religious – has the power to modify the fundamental nature of marriage.”

New Archbishop Of Québec

Canada

Yesterday Pope Benedict XVI has named 53 years old Bishop Gérald Cyprien Lacroix [Jerald Ciprie Lacruà] as Archbishop of Québec-city [Kebek] and primate of Canada. Lacroix was previously auxiliary and diocesan administrator of the same diocese. His predecessor Cardinal Ouellet was named to a Roman position. Archbishop Lacroix was the only auxiliary named by Card Ouellet. He was preferred over two others more seniors bishop. With Lacroix Rome has chosen a strong continuity with Card Ouellet. The new archbishop belongs to the secular institute of St Pius X, which has nothing to do with the fraternity of St. Pius X. He is orthodox, faithful to the Pope and strongly believes in the New Evangelization.

Obama Fights Against the Family

USA

The Obama administration will no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act. The act defines marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman. Attorney General Eric Holder declared in a February 23 announcement that President Obama had changed his views on the Defense of Marriage Act. Holden said that the President concluded the legislation of the Act "fails to meet that standards and is therefore unconstitutional."

The Rite Came To Early

Ireland

On Sunday the archbishops of Dublin and Boston washed and dried the feet of eight victims of clerical abuse in a Dublin cathedral. Five of them were women and three men. Several of them cried as the rite was performed. Terry from the abbey-roads.blogspot.com commented: “Couldn't this have waited until Holy Thursday?”

Obamao is the most pro-abortion and pro-sodomy president in the history of the United States. However, since it never was really a federal issue in terms of the Constitution then doing away with DOMA means that recognition of a marriage contract again becomes the domain of the individual states where it belongs. Constitutionally it was never really a federal matter nor enforceable by the fed. Of course, it means that a state could allow me to “marry” my dog so I can claim her as a dependent and file a joint return or gain other tax breaks or benefits but the bottom line is that it is up to the states.
