Jesus taught us how to live, how to pray and how to grow closer to God. He also prayed for the unity of all believers (John 17), a "city on a hill" for the world to see (Matthew 5:14-16) - not an "invisible body" with a myriad of practices and beliefs. To ensure that His flock would not scatter at the close of His earthly ministry, our Good Shepherd established a church. In Matthew 16, Christ established a church built upon the rock of the Apostle Peter.
