Sisters Sue Boston Archdiocese
USA
The Daughters of St. Paul have sued the Boston Archdiocese and Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley. For years the order has failed to withdraw from a church-run pension fund. Now the sisters have asked the Supreme Judicial Court to order pension plan trustees to provide them with a full accounting of the nuns' portion of the fund, or to rule that the nuns were technically never part of the church-run plan and order the archdiocese to reimburse the nuns' contributions. The funds at stake are for the retirement of lay employees of the nuns’ publishing house. A lawyer for nuns told The Boston Globe the order went to court as a last resort. An archdiocese spokesman says the Church is confident the suit can be resolved.

RELIGION COULD GO EXTINCT IN 9 COUNTRIES

INTERNATIONAL) -- A study using census data from nine countries shows that religion in those countries may essentially go the way of the dinosaurs: extinct.

The study found a steady rise in those claiming no religious affiliation.

The mathematical model used in the study (nonlinear dynamics) tried to account for the interplay between the number of religious respondents and the social motives behind being one.

The result, reported at the American Physical Society meeting in Dallas, suggested that religion will all but die out altogether in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Researchers looked at census data in those countries going back as far as 100 years in which the census queried religious affiliation.

One of the researchers, Daniel Abrams of Northwestern University told the BBC that in a large number of modern secular democracies, there has been a trend and that trend is that people are identifying themselves more and more as “non-affiliated” with religion.

In the Netherlands the number was 40%. The highest researchers saw was in the Czech Republic, where the number was 60%.

In all the countries studied, the data showed the indications were that religion was headed toward extinction.

A recent study in Great Britain and Whales asked 1,900 adults if they belonged to a religion.

While 61% of the poll's respondents said they did belong to a religion, 65% of those surveyed answered "no" to the further question: "Are you religious?"

Among respondents who identified themselves as Christian, fewer than half said they believed Jesus Christ was a real person who died, came back to life and was the Son of God.

Another 27% said they did not believe that at all, while 25% were unsure.

In Scotland, 42% of respondents said they did not belong to a religion, yet in a further question "Are you religious?" 56% answered "no".

A Call for Prayer
"On Ash Wednesday I learned that a former employee sent a three-page letter to several bishops accusing me of everything from drug addiction to multiple sexual exploits with her and several other adult women. There seems to no longer be the need for a complaint to be deemed “credible” in order for Church authorities to pull the trigger on the Church’s procedure, which was in recent years crafted to respond to cases of the sexual abuse of minors. I am not accused of that, but it seems, once again, that they now don’t have to deem the complaint to be credible or not, and it is being applied broadly to respond to all complaints. I have been placed on "administrative leave" as the result of this.

I’ll certainly cooperate with the process, but personally believe that it is seriously flawed, and is tantamount to treating the priest as guilty “just in case”, then through the process determining if he is innocent. The resultant damage to the accused is immediate, irreparable, and serious, especially for someone like myself, since I am so well known. I am not alone in this assessment, as multiple canon lawyers and civil and criminal attorneys have stated publicly that the procedure does grave damage to the accused from the outset, regardless of rhetoric denying this, and has little regard for any form of meaningful due process.

All of the allegations in the complaint are false, and I ask you to pray for all concerned." Father John Corapi ✍️

been stood down does not indicate any wrong doing but is
a prudent decision given his position in the Church and his
great influence in the Catholic media. It’s a sad reality that
the greater the profile of a certain individual, the greater the
propensity of individuals to accuse high profile individuals of
wrong doing; it goes with the territory! St Vianney amongst
many accusations in his lifetime, was accused of fathering
a child and his Bishop had to investigate this accusation.
The holy curé of Ars was cleared of the false accusation
but unfortunately when accusations are made, you will
still find vindictive individuals saying, “there's no smoke
without fire”
. Let's pray for this fearless soldier of Christ.
