Cardinal Dziwisz remembers John Paul II in new film.

To mark Thursday's 30th anniversary of John Paul II's election, Pope Benedict XVI joined Synod of Bishop participants in the Vatican's Paul VI Hall for the premiere of a new film about polish pontiff. “Testimony” is an adaptation of the memoirs of Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, the long-standing secretary and close friend of Karol Wojtyla. Part-movie, part documentary, “Testimony” chronicles John Paul II's role in the dramatic changes of the past century, especially in his native Poland.

"He always said: “I want to serve the Church as a Pole, because Poland has prepared me for this position, with its culture, its religiosity, its tradition.""

The film adds never-before published material to Cardinal Dziwisz’s bestselling memoir “A Life With Karol”.

"He was a great man of an inner freedom. But not a freedom that you can construct and say: 'I am free from the world and all the things'. Because he lived in relationship with God, he lived in another dimension."

"I feel that he accompanies us, at least, to me, and I don't feel alone. I have to say that when there are some problems, I say: “Holy Father, help me. I've been with you so many years, now I need your help".
