Only The Beginning?

Vatican

The recent Instruction on ‘Summorum Pontificum’ is part of the Pontiff’s overall plan for a liturgical “reform of the reform according to Cardinal Kurt Koch, the president of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity. Koch claimed that the Pope hopes for the eventual development of a newly reformed liturgy, combining elements of both the traditional Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo liturgy. Cardinal Koch said that Summorum Pontificum is “only the beginning” of the Pope’s overall scheme for liturgical reform. The cardinal made his remarks at a Roman conference on Summorum Pontificum. His address was reprinted in the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano.

Devastating Long-Term Impact On Society

USA

New York state Governor Andrew Cuomo has attempted to push for gay unions. But this has brought out marriage – supporters. They say the proposal threatens to create an “Orwellian” redefinition of the basic truth about marriage. “We believe that what this bill would do is separate forever the link between marriage and procreation, which we think would have a devastating long-term impact on society” - New York Catholic Conference communications director Dennis Poust told CAN.

Latin America Bishops Meet

Latin America

Bishops from all over Latin America are meeting in Uruguay for their general assembly this week. Today the Council will elect new leaders. In addition to the representatives of the 22 bishops' conferences of the region, other attendees include Cardinal Marc Ouellet, the prefect for the Congregation for Bishops and President of the Commission for Latin America, and Guzman Carriquiry (Karikiri) of Uruguay, recently designated secretary of the Commission for Latin America by Pope Benedict XVI. Carriquiry is the first layman appointed to such a post in the Roman Curia.

Our Intellectuals and Our Cultural Leaders no Longer Have Confidence

USA

Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez has addressed the 82 new graduates of Thomas Aquinas College on May 14. He urged them to bear witness to the Catholic Church's harmony of faith and reason, in a culture that has lost its intellectual and religious bearings. “The problem today is that our intellectuals and our cultural leaders no longer have confidence” – the archbishop said. He added: They are skeptical that we can know our creator from what he has created.”

"The reform of the reform", ...does this mean those "nuns" must throw away their pant suits, earrings and lipstick? And put their habit back on, a rosary in hand and read their office? 😈 If they doesn't scare them away, nothing will.

There was one bishop that was saying things in this manner, Bishop Richard Williamson. They quickly found means to make him shut up. 👌
Cannoli, one can say that you do not have a vocation to be a Bishop 😁 😀 🚬More

In my dreams I wish the story would have read:

Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez has addressed the 82 new graduates of Thomas Aquinas College on May 14. He urged them to be ready to bear witness to the Catholic Church's historical harmony of faith and reason, in a culture and among a Catholic hierarchy which has lost its intellectual foundation, its religious bearings and its moral compass. “The problem today is that the Catholic hierarchy is so consumed with protecting their own reputations, guarding their positions and appeasement of the masses that they no longer serve the Truth and can no longer be trusted to teach the Catholic faith unambiguously, boldly and with confidence.” – the archbishop said. He added: “Catholic priests, bishops and even cardinals are fearful of the Truth and have thereby alienated themselves from the creator becoming an embarrassment to the proud Traditions and the historical superiority of our Catholic Doctors, Fathers and all the Blessed.”

Buon giorno, Doina.
