Presently, the website www.stop-western-mass.com is fighting against a Western Mass that is scheduled for June 26th in the archdiocese of Vienna. The authors of the website have simultaneously filed against the event with four Vatican dicasteries. The complaint requests them to intervene immediately. It includes a dossier with pictures and descriptions of the event as well as a DVD with the footage of previous Western Masses.

According to Vatican Journalist Andrea Tornielli the discussion centered around several concerns about religious life: (1) on the need to clearly separate male and female religious, contrary to the practices of some new religious congregations; (2) on the need to clearly separate the functions of lay faithful and religious - avoiding that lay leaders may have jurisdiction over priests and religious; (3) on the need to avoid overemphasis on the person of the Founder.

There are other Christians in city councils, but a Christian in the national parliament has not been seen for several decades.”

As we know from previous similiar cases, the chances of any assistance from the Vatican with respect to these kinds of liturgical abuses is remote. However, Cardinal Schonborn of Vienna himself may intervene after witnessing the tremendous negative publicity that the “Western Mass” has generated throughout the entire world.
If the “Westerm Mass” takes place anyway, Gloria.tv has done as much as it could to prevent it from occuring and, for your efforts, you should be commended.

Here is what every meeting in the Vatican should be about but this subject is ignored and therefore the issue is still a serious problem within the Catholic Church. It is the equavlient to an elephant in the living room but it is ignored by the family as if it's not even there. All the while the family hopes that by ignorning the elephant, it will somehow disappear.
