@stanslem-I attained Sobriety a A/A sitting next to Catholic Priests, Protestant Ministers, the rich and the poor. The position of the Church regarding A/A is encouraged and considered Echumenical. Meaning that we work with other validly Baptized Faiths with varying elements of the Truth. I have spoken boldly to others about the Truth of our Faith at these meetings. I'm Eternally grateful to A/A. Before 1935 no one gave a crap about us Alcoholics. Nobody. There is no way I would of touched the door handle of the Church if it wasn't for A/A.

Our Parish Priest didn't even have a vague idea of what the 12 steps are much less there being a consistent Apostolate through-out the World. I offered my help and he politely brushed it off. Your program is Spiritually and Doctrinally correct but I doubt many alcoholics would subscribe to it. Religion is a huge line item on many alcoholics resentment list. They need metaphores and fact-simile suggestions, nobody does it better than A/A.
