@soc - I see, thanks for that. Therefore, the whole question has nothing whatsoever to do with the provision of health care for the human being per se; rather the provision of health care in the specific genre of the human familyas defined by the Christian Church, viz. a man, his wife and their children.

Accross the pond here in the UK, we have the NHS system which provides for ALL UK peoples (and in NO WAY perfect by any standards!). Therefore, the problem in the States, as you have put it, is quite foreign to us out here. Here, the Crown does not discriminate between those who are worthy of health care, and those who are not worthy of health care; everyone benefits regardless - I think the only two provisions are that one be British, and that one be a human Being.

On the other hand, I do see your points SOC. A Christian State (which the USA purports to be), ought not to be supportive of pagan lifestyles like homosexuality and adultary and commonlaw partnerships. However, I think it is rather difficult to control what citizens do in their bedrooms, don't you? Therefore, while I do agree that the use of public funds for the support of unchristian lifestyles must be called into question, I rather think that the dispensing of same ought never to be used as a 'contol tool'. In using the dispensing of public funds to control citizens and what they do, one brings into jeopardy the very freedoms of democracy, e.g. freedom of religion and to seek ones own happiness.

Then there is the whole Catholic mandate to evangelise. If we teach the tenets of the Catholic Faith correctly, and allow the Holy Spirit to effect change in their hearts, there would be little need for this discussion. However, since the evil one is so busy of late, I think one ought to adhere to the maxim: If all have not crossed, none have crossed, and some need to be carried!

In other words if, due to the monumental weaknesses of our bretheren we have to carry them on our backs in this life, so be it! Since Christ Himself carries all of US in His wounds. Therefore, I find the clinicality of the whole matter not Roman Catholic at all, and therefore quite unchristian. But that is just from my 'goldfish bowl' perspective (on the outside looking in).

@ ACL - It is not a matter of the availability of health care. There is a problem of the definition of marriage and family. And there is the problem of using the power of the state to coerce citizens to accept, and to pay for, homosexual partnerships. The news story from Texas also indicates that the mayor will extend health care benefits to unmarried heterosexual couples.

Civil society has often passed laws that favor the stability of family life. For example, if a man has a job in the city of El Paso, the taxpayers may be required to provide all sorts of benefits to his wife and children. But what if the man has an unmarried girlfriend? or a homosexual boyfriend? several boyfriends? a harem?

Is it right for the mayor to require taxpayers to provide health care benefits, not only to the employee and his wife and children, but also to anyone else the employee claims to be in his "family?" Can a concubine or a homosexual partner really be considered a "family" member? Does the state have the right to re-define "marriage" and to bestow entitlements upon unmarried couples and homosexual partners?

It is a mystery that a cultured country such as Germany
could descend into utter barbarity in the 1930s & 1940s.
How could a Christian country become a state of hate?

For the one group that today preaches so often about “tolerance,” it's inconceivable that they are totally intolerant of the bilbical principals that Christians site about their sick, disgusting, disordered, self-destructive behavior and their very active efforts at social engineering by spreading their sick agenda into elementary schools.

"If the news article is accurate, the Bishop is in the wrong. Bishop Ochoa is quoted as saying that the priest, Fr. Michael Rodriguez, was overstepping the boundary between Church and State. This is untrue, because priests are allowed--- in fact, obliged -- to teach about faith and morals as they relate to public issues.

"What any cleric must NOT do is endorse or oppose particular candidates or particular political parties. The selection of parties and candidates is a "prudential" decision, meaning it is a matter of weighing strategic choices. Questions of the sanctity of marriage, the sanctity of life, and the Commandments are not matters of political negotiation; they are moral absolutes."

If the facts are accurately stated in this article, Bishop Ochoa needs to hear a rebuke from the sensus fidelium. Regardless, hopefully Rev. Rodriguez will do better in his new parish.

(Father) Rodriguez has recently challenged certain city officials to participate with him in a partisan debate on issues related to an upcoming election,” said Ochoa. “This type of intervention in the political in the political process by religious organizations such as the Diocese of El Paso and San Juan Bautista Church is not permitted under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code.”

To the foreigner, the whole business about the health care for gays, etc., seems raise the question: are gay people not entitled to good health care, equal to that of a heterosexual? Could one of my American bretheren explain this to me please? thanks. 😇 🤗
