I met Fr James Mulligan at a funeral of an old time Catholic
in London, and found him to be a very approachable priest.
Whilst speaking to him, he mentioned to me in passing that
the following day he would be officiating at a funeral where
the deceased had no known friends or relatives. Fr James
said he would be the only person at the funeral. I replied,
“Surely not Father; where a priest is, there also is Christ”.

Sadly, hospital chapels have a long history of vandalism.
I once met an evangelical Protestant who spoke gleefully
about taking a hammer to Catholic statues whenever the
opportunity arose. Presumably this fervent Christian had
a hammer ever ready for the smashing of Catholic idols!
