This is the view of the High Park Fire on Monday June 11 (50,000 acres burned so far according to latest reports). The woman next to me watched an air tanker save her house, only to have the fire creep up the ridge again (her house is the one to the left of the flames). Lory State Park is in flames. A lot of people from the Lory neighborhood were out on the ridge, watching the fire crews work, and cheering for the air tankers. Everyone I know who lives up there says they never imagined a fire could get this bad this fast. Several veteran fire fighters have said this is the worst fire they've ever seen.
