Adoration - a step backward
"Now that most Catholics are literate and even well-educated, the Mass is in the language of the people, and its rituals are relatively easy to understand and follow, there is little or no need for extraneous eucharistic devotions. The Mass itself provides all that a Catholic needs sacramentally and spiritually", wrote Fr. McBrien, a Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, on September 8th in the “National Catholic Reporter online ”. "Eucharistic adoration, whether perpetual or not, is a doctrinal, theological, and spiritual step backward, not forward", he summerised. Several catholic bloggers criticized these words argumentating with the great spiritual fruits that eucharistic adoration brought about throughout the history of the Church.

✍️ I think it's a lack of education that Catholics suffer from now. So many do not actually know the teachings of the Church. Fr. McBrien is really confusing "information" with actual learning. A lot of people are getting their catechesis from a hostile media and an unfaithful band of dissidents. - Blessings - Rene

When Fr. McBrien recieves the gift of Stigmata, maybe I will listen to him! If Eucharistic Adoration was good enough for St. Padre Pio, than its good enough for me. I would think, that because Catholics are literate and even well-educated would be reason enough for them, to look to Tradition, and go back to what the Church stood for, before, this great need try and make a step forward in the world …More
When Fr. McBrien recieves the gift of Stigmata, maybe I will listen to him! If Eucharistic Adoration was good enough for St. Padre Pio, than its good enough for me. I would think, that because Catholics are literate and even well-educated would be reason enough for them, to look to Tradition, and go back to what the Church stood for, before, this great need try and make a step forward in the world. If the Church wants to make a step forward, they need to go back to what the Church, stood for, before Vatican II, when things were much more pure. When ever I hear a moderate speak, within the Church, I usually know the correct direction the Church needs to take, is the opposite of what is said. Somehow, I have this sinking feeling, that Fr. McBrien, spends to many days a week, playing golf with Billy Grahams son? 🤨
