But on the internet, it seems that every month is a new generation, so that means that about once a month, questions arise that many of us have treated numerous times in the past. Problem is, these allegedly novel questions shoot through cyberspace with amazing speed, agitating a new ‘generation’ of readers whose awareness of history is also quite diminished. The result is confusion and clamor over things that have pretty well settled answers. This happens especially frequently in regard to canon law.
A few weeks ago, for example, it was Let’s excommunicate Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn for supporting ‘gay marriage’. Now, it’s Let’s excommunicate New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his latest push to expand abortion in what is perhaps the most pro-abortion state in the union. Sins, to be sure, these deeds, but canonical crimes? and ones punishable by excommunication at that? I suggest not, as many of us have …More

What I don't get about this article is why is it such a leap to look at sins as crimes? Sins are Crimes against the Lord! How hard is that to understand!!! 😡

Who else to blame but JPII the Fake and all the V2 modernist--that planned it this way. It is the devil in the mix.

Something more public needs to be done.

Something does need to be done but don't look to Peters to recommend any public action by the hierarchy. He's an establishment boot lick and has been such going back to the Fr. Guarnizo case in D.C.

His comments invariably support the non-actions of Amchurch bishops which makes him part of the problem not a solution. Public excoriation of pseudo Catholic pro-abortion/pro sodomy pols is well within the purview of their bishops but don't look to Peters to recommend it.

Mr. Peters does some really good work, but he is too beholden to the bishops and that compromises his viewpoint on Canon law regarding politicians and the USCCB, IMHO. And his patronizing condescension towards faithful lay Catholics fed up with the malfeasance of many of those bishops REALLY rubs the wrong way at times.
