Camera-team of Gloria.TV Physically Attacked

Austria

Last night, a camera-team of Gloria.TV has been physically attacked by enraged Pro-Death-demonstrators in central Vienna. The team was filming a demonstration of around hundred abortion-rights-supporters who were beleaguering the Vienna office of the Catholic Pro Life Organization “Human-Life-International”. Suddenly, a female journalist of Gloria.TV was attacked from behind by a violent perpetrator and her camera destroyed. A police-woman who witnessed the scene together with other policemen did not check the identity of the offender.

Hugh and Richard

Vatican

At his weekly audience, last Wednesday, Pope Benedict XVI continued his series on the history of Catholic thought. He spoke about two theologians of the 12th century: Hugh and Richard of St. Victor's abbey in Paris. According to the Pope Hugh of St. Victor earned enough fame as a theologian during his lifetime to be called "a second St. Augustine." Hugh emphasized knowledge of Scripture and a thorough acquaintance with the stories of the Bible. His student, Richard of St. Victor, placed more emphasis on the allegorical significance of the Bible. Both of them, the Pope said, "raise our souls to the contemplation of heavenly reality”.

John Paul II Was Whipping Himself

Vatican

The Vatican investigation into sainthood for Pope John Paul II reportedly heard the late pontiff regularly whipped himself in a sign of "remorse for his sins". The Italian newspaper La Stampa, quotes an apparently leaked testimony of Polish nun Tobiana Sobodka. It is part of a documentation being examined by officials from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Sister Sobodka said: "Several times he would put himself through bodily penance.” The whipping was confirmed by Bishop Emery Kabongo, who was a secretary for Pope John Paul for several years. "He would punish himself, in particular just before he ordained bishops and priests before passing on the sacraments he wanted to prepare himself": said the Bishop.
