Rector of Vienna Cathedral Buries Atheist

Austria. The rector of Vienna Cathedral, Father Anton Faber, will bless the tomb of controversial Austrian artist Alfred Hrdlicka. Hrdlicka has died on December 5th at the age of 81. He called himself an Atheist, Communist and Stalinist. Hrdlicka never belonged to the Catholic Church and did not convert before dying. In March the archdiocese of Vienna caused an international uproar when it displayed works of Hrdlicka that present the Last Supper as a homosexual orgy.

New South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally is in "utter agreement" with the teachings of the Catholic Church BUT wants female priests, the vow of celibacy relaxed and believes abortion "should be safe, it should be available ... and it should be rare". In an interview with a Radio station, US-born Keneally defended her private views on faith. She also added: "When it comes to the core teachings of the Church, who Jesus was, what he taught, what his message was, I'm in complete and utter agreement with the Church."

At least eight Russo-German families in Salzkotten, Germany, have suffered heavy fines and their fathers have been sentenced to prison, because they have refused to send their elementary school-age children to mandatory sexual education classes. The Christian “International Human Rights Group” that defends religious liberty and the right to homeschool in Europe has reported that in addition to refusing to allow their children to attend sex-ed classes, the families also resisted having their children enlisted in a theatre production of "Mein Körper gehört mir" or "My Body Belongs to Me," which informs young children in how to engage in sexual intercourse.

In his 1966 apostolic constitution Paenitemini, Pope Paul VI affirmed the general norm of abstinence from meat on Fridays but granted Episcopal conferences wide latitude in modifying and applying the Church's penitential disciplines in their own nations
