A profound injustice. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops released a statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8 - quote: “Today is a tragic day for marriage and our nation. The Supreme Court has dealt a profound injustice to the American people by striking down in part the federal Defense of Marriage Act. The Court got it wrong. The federal government ought to respect the truth that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, even where states fail to do so. - You find the whole text in the written news.

To hell with the state. According to Scott P. Richert in Crisis Magazine only the Catholic Church has both the proper understanding of marriage and the moral authority to stand up against the political powers that have tried to arrogate to themselves the authority to redefine reality, to declare that the sky is green and the grass is blue. Only the Church has the wherewithal to say that the state has forfeited its right to say what marriage is, and what it is not. Richert’s proposal: The bishops could tell the state to go to hell (which is where it is headed anyway). From now on, Catholics in the U.S. will be required, as always, to comply with the Church’s conditions for marriage, but the Church in the U.S. will no longer require, as She does now, that a man and a woman seeking to be married in the Catholic Church receive a marriage license from the state.”

Slanderous and not true. The Cardinal Vicar for the diocese of Rome, Agostino Cardinal Vallini has strongly condemned the allegations by a convicted pedophile and former priest Patrizio Poggi. Poggi is claiming that there has been a male prostitution ring inside the Roman diocese. Vallini called his claims “slanderous” and “not true”. He supposed that Poggi is moved by personal motives. The chief prosecutor of Rome has categorically denied that the police are invesgtigating any priests.

The European Union is demanding that the Government of Moldova adopts pro-homosexual legislation before the visa regime between Moldova and the EU can be liberalized. However, the Moldovan Orthodox Church Synod has stated that politicians who back the pro-homosexual law will be excommunicated. To retaliate, Government officials have threatened the Orthodox with taxation of Church income. Interesting enough, it is the large Communist Party of Moldova which is the only political group that supports the Orthodox Church against Western homosexual lobbying.
