A Catholic Princess Diana? On his CNN-blog, Eric Marrapodi asked the question whether Pope Francis is the Catholic Princess Diana? Marrapodi writes: “Just as Diana ventured far from Buckingham Palace to wrap her arms around landmine victims in Africa and elsewhere, Pope Francis has taken the papacy out of the Sistine Chapel and into the streets.” Marrapodi notices that the crowds are noticeably larger than his predecessor Pope Benedict had been drawing.

Pretty much of a joke: Marrapodi quotes also Kenneth Wolfe who writes among others for the blog Rorate Caeli. According to Wolfe, pope Francis is – quote “more of a … American Protestant not in beliefs but in demeanor and approach to religion. Dressing as one of the people.” Wolfe consders the pope’s trip to Lampedusa as charitable. But, with respect to the Mass he says: “The Mass was pretty much a joke. I mean to have an altar made out of a boat, a wooded chalice, a lectern that had a ship’s steering wheel on it and altar girls?” “It resembles the clown Masses of the 1960s. It’s not a serious way to present liturgy.”

When everything is still pitch black, Pope Francis’ alarm clock rings at 4:45 am every morning in room 201 of St. Martha’s House, writes Andrea Tornielli on Vaticaninsider. Such an early start to the day means Francis has to have a siesta after lunch. The first few hours of Francis’ day are dedicated to prayer and meditation on the Readings which the Pope comments on in the brief homilies he gives in his morning masses.

Yesterday, Pope Francis flew to the Papal summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. He did not address the Pilgrims from a window or balcony but spoke to them on ground level, standing in front of the main entrance. The atmosphere was almost neighborly with one young man in the crowd patting Francis on the shoulder and another person telling the pope it was his birthday. Francis said he would like to send a cake to help residents celebrate today’s feast day of Saint Bonaventure, the patron-saint of the local church, but, he joked: "I don't know if they can make such a huge cake." He lunched with fellow Jesuits, who run the Vatican's astronomical observatory in Castel Gandolfo, before flying back to Rome.

Look Jerry, if you don't like the news stories that this charming and very gracious young lady presents each day, (various stories from numerous sources covering a multitude of topics of interest to Catholics and all Christians)-- if you don't appreciate her effort and the hours spent in research and preparing those stories including filming and cutting of the video daily, if you refuse to show her proper respect by making your petty worthless criticisms public.... if instead you would prefer to humiliate her in the way you have done, then you don't belong here.

My experience with you Germans has been consistent. You people are among the most rude, trackless, thick-skilled, self-centered, boorish, inconsiderate individuals on this earth and your comment has just proved it.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to stay at Gloria.tv. Go elsewhere. Better yet, start your own internet website where you and 2 or 3 of your like minded malcontents can post whatever your simple minds desire.

Aufedersein. You will not be missed.

Thank God for Pope Francis! Praise be to God! 😇

It was a rather large yacht that the pope rode in to Lampedusa. In keeping with his
“appearance of austerity” campaign, why couldn't he have ridden in a canoe or a jet ski or even a modified jet ski? Let his attendants paddle their own canoes.
