A Catholic Princess Diana? On his CNN-blog, Eric Marrapodi asked the question whether Pope Francis is the Catholic Princess Diana? Marrapodi writes: “Just as Diana ventured far from Buckingham Palace to wrap her arms around landmine victims in Africa and elsewhere, Pope Francis has taken the papacy out of the Sistine Chapel and into the streets.” Marrapodi notices that the crowds are noticeably larger than his predecessor Pope Benedict had been drawing.
Pretty much of a joke: Marrapodi quotes also Kenneth Wolfe who writes among others for the blog Rorate Caeli. According to Wolfe, pope Francis is – quote “more of a … American Protestant not in beliefs but in demeanor and approach to religion. It was a rather large yacht that the pope rode in to Lampedusa. In keeping with his
“appearance of austerity” campaign, why couldn't he have ridden in a canoe or a jet ski or even a modified jet ski? Let his attendants paddle their own canoes.
