Ken Bencomo says he was fired from his teaching position at a Catholic school after he married his partner.
Bencomo and Christopher Persky were one of the first gay couples to marry in San Bernardino, California after Proposition 8 was repealed last month. News of their nuptials was reported in local media.
But less than two weeks after the couple exchanged vows, Bencomo says that he was terminated from his teaching job at St. Lucy's Priory High School in Glendora, where he was head of the English department and he coached the dance squad.
According to a spokesman for the Diocese of San Bernardino, John Andrews, Catholic schools do not discriminate based on lifestyle choices but "if a teacher or school employee makes a public display of behavior that is counter to church teaching — such as homosexuality, sex outside of marriage, having a child outside of marriage — that can impact their employment status."

The school knew he was a homosexual...only because it came out in the papers..it exposed the school that hired him and for the past 17 yrs has allowed this homosexual as well as others who teach to be an influence on the youth today.
