The Pope and Syria: let us raise a strong cry for peace!
Speaking at his general audience, Pope Francis said "This Saturday we'll experience together a special day of fasting and prayers for peace in Syria, the Middle East and across the world. I renew my appeal to all the Church to live this day intensely and I also express gratitude to our Christian brothers and sisters and those of other religions and to all men and women of good will who wish to join this event, wherever they may be and in their own way. I particularly urge the faithful in Rome and pilgrims to take part in this prayer vigil here in St. Peter's Square at 7pm, to invoke from the Lord the great gift of peace. Let us raise a strong cry for peace across the globe!".

Pope Francis has called the Church to observe a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria. The horrors of the Syrian civil war, like all the other violent conflicts of our modern age, are, simply, Satanic in origin and outcome. However, in addition, the Syrian civil war is the focal point of escalating tensions, caused by the stupidity of the Obama Administration and the War Party in Washington, D.C. There is a very real risk that the disastrously rash intervention of the Americans in the Syrian civil war could cause a widespread regional, and even global, conflict. For these reasons it is certainly important that we heed the Pope’s call for prayer and fasting on Saturday, September 7th.
Of course, traditional Catholics understand peace in the sense described by St. Augustine, as the tranquility of order. Peace between men means the ordered agreement of mind with mind. Diversity of mind is disordered and leads only to discord among men.
Therefore, the traditional Catholic prays for the establishment of those circumstances and dispositions of men’s minds and hearts that will ensure social order in Syria and everywhere else. Those things are the conversion of the infidel Muslims to the Catholic faith, unity among Christians, and the recognition of the universal and social Reign of Christ the King. Please add these intentions to your prayers.
