No Marketing with the Pope: Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, has replied to those who wanted the Pope to view a movie by the English film director Stephen Frears – quote: “The Holy Father does not view films personally nor will he do it in this case. Furthermore, it is always good to avoid using the Pope for marketing purposes.”

Expensive Councilors: In ten month Pope Francis has hired six consulting agencies for his reforms:
- London based PricewaterhouseCoopers x-rays the Roman children’s hospital Bambino Gesù,
- New York based Deloitte studies the Padre Pio Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza in San Giovanni Rotondo,
- New York based McKinsey & Company analyzes the Vatican media
- Dutch KPMG monitors book keeping in the Vatican institutions
- London based Ernst & Young checks the economic and administrative activity of the Holy See.
- Washington based Promontory Financial Group studies the economic activity of the Vatican property administration.

The Pope Remains the Boss: The president and secretary general of the Italian episcopal conference may continue to be appointed by the pope. This is what the Italian bishops want. Pope Francis had asked them last May, in the name of greater collegiality, to review their statutes and rethink the ways of appointing the president and secretary. The bishops wish however that the Pope choses the candidates from a list proposed by the bishops.

Mississippi, Utah, Alabama, Louisiana and South Carolina are America’s most religious places in the U.S., while New England and the Northwest of the USA hold the least religious citizens, according to a Gallup’s annual survey. The least religious states are Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. Ten of the 11 most religious states are in the South. The Mormons are the most religious of any major religious group in the country. The nine “least religious” states voted for President Obama in the 2012 election.
