Steep Decline: The bishops of Cardiff, Shrewsbury and Arundel and Brighton have each issued pastoral letters for Lent urging Catholics to return to Confession. Bishop Kieran Conry of Arundel and Brighton emphasised that confusion over the nature of sin could be behind a – quote - “steep decline” in the numbers of those going to confession over recent decades.

Qaiyim Abdullah Loves Lent: Lent is fish season at Champaign's Seaboat Fish and Chicken in East Central Illinois, where co-owner Qaiyim Abdullah says, "It gets crazy around here. We sell 2 times as much fish here this time of year." Co-owner Joe Donahue said fish sales pick up during Lent, with perhaps 50 percent more orders.

Find the Right Interpretation: Father Joseph Donton of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Rantoul, diocese of Peoria, had a moment of triumph during the Lenten season while he was a seminarian. "I love anything deep-fried, but I gave that all up," he said to the News Gazette. He was having a bag of potato chips when a friend called him on it. Donton turned to him and replied: "But the bag says baked – not fried!"

The Orthodox Take Lent Serious: During the seven weeks of Lent, the Orthodox restrict both, the number of meals taken daily and the types of food permitted. They eat only vegetables cooked with water and salt, and such things as fruit, nuts, bread and honey. The following categories of food are definitely excluded: meat; animal products such as cheese, milk, butter, eggs, lard, drippings; fish; olive oil and all alcoholic drinks.

😇 Archbishop Fulton Sheen warned us about an heretical group inside our church that denies sin ; unfortunally many of them gain the control.
