An excerpt from a lecture by Fr. John Vidmar, O.P. on the history of the Dominicans in the Eastern United States, reflections on the 200th Anniversary of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph (1805-2005). Given in March of 2006 at the Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies at Providence College, Providence RI. Fr. Vidmar taught history at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington DC for many years and is currently serving as provincial archivist and teaching history at Providence College. He is the author of several books including The Catholic Church Through the Ages: A History (Paulist, 2005), Praying with the Dominicans (2008) and and Fr. Fenwick's 'Little American Province': 200 Years of the Dominican Friars in the United States (Paulist, 2008). Part 5/7
