The Life of the Curé of Ars.

The Curé of Ars has been one of the role models proposed by Pope Benedict XVI for the current Year of Priests. "The man who made himself mercy" is the title of the new biography of St. John Vianney that sheds deeper light on the period of persecution suffered by the Church in France.

"First of all, remember that the Curé lived in persecution from the age of 3 to 14 years of age, when the French Revolution took place; the great French Revolution that proposed itself as an encounter with freedom, liberty, fraternity, equality. The French Revolution finished with the Catholic Church being rather unknown, even to itself. The Catholic Church has beatified 400 people who died in that persecution. The Cure of Ars in the meantime was in hiding and living his faith."
The author of this book, Father Teulon, illustrates the pastoral care of the Curé of Ars towards those faithful who would seek to confess.
"He was a great confessor. "The man who made himself mercy" touches on the second part of the biography, which aims to highlight the care the Cure of Ars had with many believers in order to assist them in a very discreet manner, without fanfare."
A work that also leads to prayer.
"For many people who do not know the life of the Curé of Ars, it is a window to start appreciating this great saint- and not only in this Year of Priests, but through this desire, to pray for those of us who are in great need of prayer."
