PIUS XII Humane Generis

36. For these reasons the Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God. However, this must be done in such a way that the reasons for both opinions, that is, those favorable and those unfavorable to evolution, be weighed and judged with the necessary seriousness, moderation and measure, and provided that all are prepared to submit to the judgment of the Church, to whom Christ has given the mission of interpreting authentically the Sacred Scriptures and of defending the dogmas of faith.[11]

37. When, however, there is question of another conjectural opinion, namely polygenism, the children of the Church by no means enjoy such liberty. For the faithful cannot embrace that opinion which maintains that either after Adam there existed on this earth true men who did not take their origin through natural generation from him as from the first parent of all, or that Adam represents a certain number of first parents.

Aphthartodocetism, (Greek aphthartos, “incorruptible”), a Christian heresy of the 6th century that carried Monophysitism (“Christ had but one nature and that divine”) to a new extreme; it was proclaimed by Julian, bishop of Halicarnassus, who asserted that the body of Christ was divine and therefore naturally incorruptible and impassible; Christ, however, was free to will his sufferings and death voluntarily. Severus, patriarch of Antioch, himself a condemned Monophysite, vigorously challenged Julian on the ground that the doctrine of salvation was meaningless unless Christ’s body was truly human. The Byzantine emperor Justinian I proclaimed the new heresy in an edict of 564 and would have imposed it on the Eastern church but for his death the following year.

It destroys the sovereignty of God and makes grace automatic rather than a gift.

The Protestant Reformation. Why Did Luther Reject 7 Books From The Bible? Because they did not suit …

Because they contained doctrinal elements that went against his teaching, ( i.e. prayers for the dead in the Second Book of Maccabees). Therefore, he decided to use the Jewish canon from 85 A.D. developed after the destruction of the Temple, rather than the Scriptures that would have been used by Jesus, the Apostles, and St. Paul ( i.e. the Septuagint)
