Profile

Son of Sancho del Val, a notary, and Isabel Sancho. An altar boy and choir boy at age seven, like many boys he dreamed on being a priest. Around the time of Easter in the mid-13th-century, the boy was murdered, and just like several other occasions, real and fictional, his death was immediately blamed on local Jews. More a matter of anti-Semitism than sanctity, this incident was condemned by the Vatican, and the feast is no longer kept.
