Celebrazione della Passione del Signore-BENEDETTO XVI.
Venerdì 6 aprile. Il venerdì santo è il giorno della Passione e Morte del Signore e del digiuno, quale segno esteriore della nostra partecipazione al suo sacrificio. Il venerdì non si celebra l’Eucaristia. Ma è prevista un’azione pomeridiana per commemorare la Passione e Morte del Signore. Cristo appare come il servo di Dio, predetto dai profeti, l’agnello che si sacrifica per la salvezza di tutti. La Croce è l’elemento che domina tutta la celebrazione: illuminata dai raggi della risurrezione, si presenta come trono di gloria e strumento di vittoria; perciò è presentata all’adorazione dei fedeli.
- All’inizio della celebrazione il Santo Padre si inginocchia alcuni minuti davanti all’altare pregando in silenzio, in segno di adorazione e di richiesta di perdono e di penitenza

In the early 1800s, the Church in France, infected by the Revolution of 1789, turned to its charismatic philosopher and apologist, Abbe Fr. Felicite-Robert de Lamennais, promoter of a movement to "catholicize liberalism." He expounded an alien philosophy based on a new theory of certitude claiming truth does not belong to individual reason, but to the universal consent of mankind. According to him, certainty of truth was not determined by evidence, but by the authority of mankind. The True Religion, he concluded, is that which can put forth on its behalf the greatest number of witnesses.
