Spain Is in The Grip Of Anti-Clericalism

Spain

Spain is headed by the most aggressively secularist government in all of Europe, writes The Irish Catholic. The Socialist government of the country has radicalized Spain's abortion law, its divorce law. It has allowed gay marriage and gay adoption. It has recognized the 'rights' of transsexuals and it has foisted a civics program on all Spanish school children which amounts to politically correct propaganda. On his flight to Spain Pope Benedict XVI said that Spain is in the grip of the worst outbreak of anti-clericalism there since the 1930s.

A Moment Of Profound Joy

Spain

Speaking about the Pope’s Sunday morning’s liturgy in the world renowned Sagrada Familia Basilica, Vatican Press Office Director Fr. Federico Lombardi said yesterday: “Sunday morning’s celebration was a moment of particular joy for the Pope because he is a man who profoundly loves the liturgy.” Then he added: “To be in such a place and to celebrate such a liturgy I think is for the Pope one of the most joyful moments in his life as Pope!”

No Bishop Is A ‘Single-Issue’ Teacher

USA

Archbishop Niendstedt of Minneapolis-St. Paul has said in the Catholic Spirit newspaper that he must speak on controversial issues. His remarks follow opposition to his campaign to educate Catholics about the nature of marriage. “No bishop, and in particular this archbishop, is a ‘single-issue’ teacher,” Archbishop Niendstedt wrote: “I was ordained to preach and to teach the full spectrum of the Catholic faith as it is contained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. “The media pick and choose what they want to cover in terms of controversial issues. I do not have that luxury,” he added.

Stop Pornography

USA

Christian Brothers Investment Services led a group of 220 other institutional investors to ask the United States’ largest cable television and satellite TV providers to stop distributing pay-per-view pornography and to stop carrying adult channels. Letters were sent Nov. 3 to Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Cablevision, which are, respectively, the first-, second- and fifth-largest cable companies in the United States and the three biggest publicly traded companies. Similar letters also went to DirecTV and Dish Network, the two principal U.S. satellite TV firms.

COLLEGEVILLE, MN. (Catholic Online) - On Sunday, September 26, 2010, during Holy Mass at St. John's Abbey on the campus of St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, 24 people were refused Holy Communion by Archbishop John Nienstedt of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

"Homosexual activity is not a complementary union, able to transmit life; and so it thwarts the call to a life of that form of self-giving which the Gospel says is the essence of Christian living. This does not mean that homosexual persons are not often generous and giving of themselves; but when they engage in homosexual activity they confirm within themselves a disordered sexual inclination which is essentially self-indulgent". Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) in the "Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church on the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons" promulgated in 1986.

The dissenting Catholics who support this Homosexual Equivalency movement within the Church insist that the Catholic Church adopt their new doctrine - which amounts to heresy. Some also insist that the Civil Law of the Nation create a legal and moral equivalency between true marriages and cohabitating practicing homosexuals. In these efforts they are led by well funded and strategic groups such as the "Human Rights Campaign" who now seek to directly undermine the authority of the Catholic Church in defending its own doctrine and enforcing church discipline.
