DEVOTION TO MARY.
Devotion to the most blessed Immaculate Virgin, the Mother of God, is an excellent means of attaining grace and a means of salvation. All the Saints observed a true devotion towards the Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Alphonsus Liguori, the author of the “Glories of Mary” declares it to be his persuasion that hell cannot boast of containing one single soul who ever had a true and heartfelt devotion to Mary. Saint Anselm says, It is impossible to save one’s soul without devotion to Mary and without her protection. Saint John Damascene says: Devotion to you, O Blessed Virgin, is a means which God gives to those whom he wishes to save. St. Bernard asserts that those who honor her daily will assuredly be saved. St. Francis Borgia always feared for the salvation of that soul which had little or no devotion for the Mother of God.

Mary’s intercession has immense power with God; St. Bernard exclaims, “Who can doubt that the Son will listen to His Mother, such a Son to such a Mother!” Mary is our hope; because through her intercession we hope to procure the blessings which our poor prayers cannot obtain; there is nothing that she cannot obtain for us.
