One Apologizes the Other Praises
The US-blog American Papist has first criticized Cardinal Schönborn for his claim that “concerning homosexuality we should consider more the quality of a relationship and speak in positive terms about this quality. A stable relationship is certainly better than if somebody simply lives out his promiscuity.” But now the blog has apologized for allegedly having misunderstood the Cardinal. Nevertheless, in Austria Schönborn has been strongly criticized for his statement, among others by the big Catholic website ‘kath.net’. On the other hand, the Austrian gay website commented: “Cardinal Schönborn supports Gay couples”. At least since 2006, homosexual couples are officially invited for a blessing that takes place on the day of Saint Valentine in Vienna Cathedral.
An Oasis of Life in the Middle of a Desert of Death

In a predominantly Latino area of Los Angeles promoters of a Spanish-language, daylong “mega-conference” scheduled for Sunday, May 23, hope to raise funds to help construct the Centro Médico Guadalupe. It is intended to be an oasis of life in the middle of a desert of death. In the area there are no fewer than 10 abortion clinics. The conference will be held in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. It is being sponsored by a non-profit organization founded by Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui. His famous movie, "Bella" was the winner of the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival.
Not Enough Priests to Make the Weddings

A number of hotels have claimed prospective brides and grooms want to come to County Donegal from the larger urban areas of Dublin and Belfast to celebrate their wedding. But many are being put off because they cannot book a suitable church or available priest in this county. There is not even the option of a civil wedding at the weekends as the Registry Office is only open from Monday to Friday. Most people do however, prefer a church wedding.

On June 7th in the commune Trappes, Yvelines department, France, will take place Padre Cup 2010, the third championship of carting among priests. About 70 clerics are going to celebrate the end of the Year of Priests in this special way. The event follows the words of Saint Paul in his letter to the Philippians: „I continue my course in order to seize Christ.“ The event is co-sponsored by the diocese of Versailles.
