Traveling dads and long distance relatives may soon be able to receive pregnancy updates – directly from the unborn child. Corey Menscher has designed a belt with vibration sensors attached, to detect movement in the belly of a pregnant woman. Menscher infused this technology with the social networking site Twitter to send a message – a “fetal tweet” – when a kick is detected. The product is called “Kickbee”. So unborn babies can have twitter accounts but not legal rights, comments American Papist Blog.

Yesterday Pope Benedict XVI celebrated in the Vatican Basilica a Holy Mass for the sick, in honor of the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the World Day of the Sick. The Holy Father said to the faithful who had packed the Basilica in order to pray before the relics of St. Bernadette Soubirous: "Like Mary, the Church holds within Herself man's tragedies, as well as the consolation of God."

American actress and Brokeback Mountain star, Anne Hathaway, who has a gay brother, says she and her family left the Church to become Episcopalian over the Church’s teaching on homosexuality: "The whole family converted to Episcopalianism after my elder brother came out," Hathaway told the New York magazine. Her argument: "Why should I support an organization that has” – as she put it – “a limited view of my beloved brother?"

A Future Carthusian as Olympic Torch-Bearer

Noel Oco, a future Carthusian carried the Olympic torch around Vancouver, British Columbia, on February 10th - Catholic News Service has reported. Oco is just months away from becoming a member of the very strict Order of St. Bruno, more commonly known as the Carthusians. He was chosen to carry the torch after winning an essay competition writing about the power of the Olympic flame. In his essay he wrote: “No matter how powerful the Olympic flame is and what it represents, the flame inside each of us is greater than that flame.”
