What's different now is that today’s announcement comes only weeks after Pope Benedict XVI criticized the German bishops for their investments. “The Holy See will ensure that the Catholic Church in Germany takes clear and decisive initiatives against this form of abuse,” promised the Pope. The Germans had no choice but to bail out of the porno business.
Incidentally, is there any truth to the rumor that Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schönborn will be buying those same shares of Weltbild at distressed prices hoping to turn a quick profit?
