Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperat illi Deus; supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae coelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute in infernum detrude. Amen

Dear Fr. Nay,

A very good homily today.

Confidence

Although Scripture does not speak much about types (it does to a small degree) different types of persons will respond differently to outside stimuli. For the same phenomenon, one type will simply observe, one will be fearful, one will be angry and only one will draw his sword and cut off an ear.

The apostles were of different types but there was only one Peter and one Paul who said with confidence, β€œI can do all things in him who strengtheneth me.”

I don't know what Paul was referring to here. However, we do know that Sacred Scripture does not contain everything that Christ and the apostles said and did. One could only speculate about what unrecorded miracles Christ, and the apostles through Christ, worked during their time.

One can not even imagine the confidence that these men must have had. A confidence that was not centered on themselves but in their Master in whom and through whom they could do β€œall things.”
