Elton John calls Pope Francis "wonderful"

London (AFP) - British musician Elton John described Pope Francis as "wonderful" in an interview on Sunday in which he said Jesus would support gay marriage.

John said the leader of the Catholic Church was a sign of hope.

"He's excited me so much by his humanity and taking everything down to the humility of faith...it's all basically about love and taking everybody in inclusiveness," John told Sky News.

Francis has appeared to strike a more conciliatory tone towards homosexuals than his predecessors since his election last year.

John said that gay members of the clergy should be able to wed and that he believed Jesus Christ would be in favour of gay marriage, which became legal in Britain in March.

"If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him... saying this could not happen," John said.

"He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together and that is what the Church should be about."

John plans to marry his partner David Furnish next year in a "quiet" ceremony. The couple have two children together.

The entertainer, who has used his position as a prominent celebrity to speak out in support of gay rights, said he hoped to meet with President Vladimir Putin to discuss the issue on a trip to Russia later this year.

Putin earlier this year said that millions of Russians loved John "despite his orientation" in an attempt to defuse criticism over a law banning the dissemination of "gay propaganda" to minors.

Even the gospel of Jesus Christ is not only a good news , but also a threatening message in which He calls sinners to conversion and penance , "... except ye repent , ye shall all likewise perish ! " Luke 13.5
Because they preach the word of God is not authentic, most people have the idea that they might have to bear the consequences of their sin without sin. They are left in ignorance as to what behavior which leads to a curse and which to a blessing:
"And if you will be the voice of the Lord thy God obey , that you may be careful to do all his commandments which I command thee this day ... will come upon you all these blessings , and overtake thee , so that thou the voice of the Lord thy God , hast been obedient ... But if you are the voice of the Lord thy God, will not obey , that you may be careful to do all his commandments and you I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee , and overtake thee ...!" 5 . Deuteronomy 28, 1-15

Elton John and his husband must have missed the Bible verses that say:

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: :26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: :27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
