American college students are in their idiotic years so I would not judge their behavior as to more standard American behavior. I would think that in the U.K. the muslim problem would be your biggest concern. ACL I can hardly believe that there is a huge culture shock for American students in the U.K.! English speaking students going to an English speaking land????? Granted there are differences but the U.K. and U.S. are not the best examples to compare when speaking of cultural integration issues. Well I have to go offline for the night so I'll have to reply tomorrow to any further issues!-night-all!

Kfarley - Americans DO go to other countries and DEMAND to have the same way of life there as in the USA. I see it every day on campus with the Americans here who can't get it through their skulls that they are in the UK, in an ancient academic culture with traditions older than the USA itself! NOT in the USA! The Americans do also believe that the whole world is exactly like them - they are here in the UK (not to mention those in France!) and are shocked at the fact that we do not know who or what "waldo" is......???!!!???!!!
Kfarley, I do believe that the Americans are guilty of exactly what you are complaining of!! I reiterate, it is a human problem - insularity perhaps????

I was not serious about needing to be thanked Acederilla but I appreciate it all the same. I just want people to know that Liberals use the term "multiculturalism" and the term sounds positive and makes people think that this is a good thing. Multiculturalism actually promotes racism because instead of looking at all people as God's children it looks at people as being this race or that race. All races are equal in God's eyes but multiculturalists focus on differences in people and cause discord and fighting between races which is against God. Liberals also use the term "Social Justice" which they have perverted in to being defined as Communism and not the true Social Justice that is defined as the Catholic Church defines it. Liberals who say they are for Social Justice do not desire justice for the unborn. Liberals who call themselves "Socially Just" also advocate abortion-the slaughter of innocent life.

ACL my entire point is that multiculturalism wants to exploit differences in order to divide. Liberals SEE RACE, a true Conservative sees an individual. "Diversity" as used by Liberals and "Multiculturalism" as used by Liberals is divisive. What makes a country strong is many cultures unifying in what they have in common and not focusing on what they do not agree on or what their differences are. Do members of the same team in sports wear all different uniforms or do they wear the same uniform? The team might consist of several different races and ethnicities but they all wear the same uniform because what they have in common makes them unified and a team. It would be rather confusing if a team could use "diversity" as an excuse to wear whatever they wanted and thus making themselves unidentifiable to their fellow team members! However, this was seen in Carolingian Europe - join US or have your heads cut off, exiled or buried alive! One gospel, one faith, one truth. This was Europe at her hieght! The understanding of which you speak must be applied to and used to incorporate the 'other'. HOWEVER, when it is used to keep the 'other' at arms-length and different (as in my Yale experience) it falls quite short of the Christian Gospel indeed!
