Dear Mr. Trump.....
We know you’re real busy running for president, trying to convince a lot of people who don’t like you much to vote for you. Some of those people look and sound and act like us: people with special needs and the disabled.
We all remember how you mocked that disabled reporter with the New York Times. That made us angry. But then we got to thinking. We’ve got a way for you to make nice with our community.
In other words, Mr. Trump, we’d like to make you an offer you can’t refuse:
You need to fix your image with the disabled and special needs community; we need money to open our school, Veritas Christi, the first Catholic high school in the country created just for kids with special needs. But kids don’t have to be Catholic to go here. Jesus didn’t turn anybody away; we won’t either.
Some very generous people have offered us space in their new building. But we can’t seem to get anybody to help us with the 3-year lease payment. We don’t know why. If we can’t raise at least the first year’s amount – $160,000 – by June 30th, then we lose the space. But even if we could raise that amount, we would still need another $5 million or more to operate the school for the first several years.
We know you wouldn’t be making any money on this deal, Mr. Trump. But you would be helping yourself with the millions of parents of kids with special needs across the country come November.
That’s got to be worth something to you, right?
If you can help us a little, we can help you a lot.
