To F Loughman - You sir don't get it. I don't care which rite of the Roman Mass you prefer. These cheap trick at Mass are a sacriledge, an affront to God and to each and every person in the church. It is an outright defiance of what our church believes, so I would guess that if you were in Jerusalem in 33 a.d. and this took place at the foot of the cross you'd be fine with it! These show tricks place within the context of the Sacred Liturgy. We are again at calvary when we go to mass and not inside a circus ten! It was one these idiotic masses while I was in the seminary that definitely had an impact on my decision to leave, another was when during 40 hours the rector, Msgr X came in the chapel drunk and smoking a cigar in front of the Exposed Blessed Sacrament and proceeded to trip over the front pew hurting himself.

This priest needs censured for trying this. Attemoting to trivialize mass for the youth is only going to driv them away thinking the church why go I can see better at the circus.

This is so sad...not only on the part of the Cardinals changing what appears to be a end run around the Holy Father, but also to SSPX for not coming home with charity and humility. To SSPX, the Church needs you, get rid of your pride and come home! So sad if this is true.

I used to side with SSPX but found some of their positions too entrenching and prideful. Hopefully in all charity they will come home and help those of us who are suffering through so many abuses, reform the reform.

I attend the monthly healing Mass at the Grotto of the Sorrowful Mother in Portland, Oregon. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 3 areas (lung, Bone and Lymph) as well as cardiac disease, having suffered two heart attacks.

I am amazed, shocked and troubled as well by the number of persons who after being told who may be annointed get up and march down the aisle for the annointing anway. This includes entire families! Both young and I mean toddlers to adults! The vast majoruty and I mean over 200 persons march up receiving this precious sacrament. This to me is disrespectful of the Annointing of the Sick. At this mass the relics of St. Peregrine are also venerated later in the Mass and everyone is invited to come forward to venerate, which I have no problem with.

The Servite Fathers allow anyone and everyone who comes up to be annointed and that is flat out wrong!

While I am writing, the chapel of Mary is beautiful, however, the Tabernacle has been placed on a side altar and the original High Altar is bare with the exception of the crucifix. At Christmas, Lent and Easter there are scenery that reflects the season. Too bad Our Blessed Savior is relgated to a side altar. I suppose those of us who are facing life threatening and life-shortening disease understand how it feels to be ignored in many ways as Our Dear Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is shove to the side. Such a sahme especially in a place that is so peaceful and tranquil.

Sorry Father, but the problem is that the Faith is not being taught in many of these parish programs and those that are are not grounded in the faith. I often wonder how many of these parishes try to make everything "feel good" and "relevant" with the children and young adults they are teaching? Thank God, as a child in the 60's something felt wrong to me, with the Sadler and Benzinger Brother's texts that we thrust upon us and our parents in our CCD classes. Within in a year or two the results of these devastating watered down texts became apparent as more of those in my age group "opted out." Thanks to the craziness of the Akron Dominicans and their adaptation to the "modern world" we were not taught the faith but were taught to feel good about everything.

I remember one Saturday morning when Sr. Bernadette came into our room, (we used the local public elementary school) dressed in a "short habit." She sat down and took off her modified veil and said see we do have hair. That was the last CCD class for our family. Mom and Dad took us out and taught us at home. My own dear grand aunt was a member of this group. She suffered greatly and never abandoned her habit as well as her 2 blood cousins who were at the motherhouse. I remember visiting with her and the young "with it" nuns telling her to take of her rags and get with it!

Shame on them... Today this group has had to merge with other Dominican congregations to survive. They all, except one, are in street clothes, are feminists in a virile way, all about the ecology, are stooped in "social justice" projects and have no postulants or novices and as a Domincan father once told me" they are dead!"

What a shame! Had one of these babe's once tell me that once you squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube you can't put it back in. To which I replied, if you try hard enough you can if not then you throw it away!

Sorry, but if you aren't in community, not in allign with the church, running around in street clothes, some better than my mom can afford and all decked out with pierced ears and other jewelery, then you don't deserve the title "sister". These bunch of babes ruined many of the religious orders in the 60's and 70's and are the cause of so much upheavel in the church. Shame on all of you!

Thank God for the younger communities and those who are living the charism of the orders, live in community, are true to the Church's mission, wear their distinctive religious garb and work for the betterment of the church.

These "babes" just don't get it and get that the path they went down has decimated their order into extinction!

These are the ones that are responsible for so much of the destruction of the Faith after the Council.

These are the folks who brought you the puppet masses, Polka Masses, Clown Masses and a the same who tore so many of our beautiful churches apart and replaced the interiors with white washed walls barren of any semblence of the holy. These are the same ones who banished the Tabernacles to some non descript part of the church or out of the church totally.

They are the ones who also are responsible for the loss of the Faith of a generation through their "feel good, it's all about me" cathechism texts from Benzinger's and Sadler publishers.

Thank you malcontents for ruining the vocation of this person! What you did to our Seminaries is purely evil. Thank God their is a resurgence among the young to want Orthodoxy in the Faith.

Lest they be left out the nuns of this bent are also responsible for much of the above as well. How many congregations of Women Religious are near collapsing in on themselves. These "with it" "socially" responsible and fighters of "Justice" have killed their own communities by the lifestyles and changes brought by the the members of their communities. They just don't get it! They threw out their charism, constitutions, community life and habits out the window, and now they reap what they have sown - - No Vocations. Those orders who have remained faithful or newer orders are flourishing and have younger numbers ...hmmm wonder why ---> Focused life of community, retention of a prayerlife in common, faithfulnees to their mission and the Church and hmmmm a Religious habit! Go figure.
