Leo XIV: Trump’s Threat to Iranian People Unacceptable

From Castel Gandolfo, Leo XIV issued a call for peace talking to journalists. The continuing escalation is not resolving anything: “It is only provoking more hatred throughout the world.”

Leo XIV urged consideration for civilians, saying: “I would like to invite everyone to think of the many innocent children, the elderly.”

Commenting on warnings of large-scale destruction, he said: “This is truly not acceptable. Here there are certainly questions of international law, but even more than this a question of morality for the good of people.”

Regarding military actions, Leo XIV added that attacks on civilian infrastructure are “a sign of the hatred and division that we are capable of.”

To assess the inner man Trump brokered peace between several warring nations. He reached out to Kim Jong II in his first administration and arrived at a truce. He honored Our Lady on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with a beautiful statement, more so than did our national Bishop's conference. He always keeps everyone guessing, and I for one like it that way. It keeps the pressure on those who would do us harm.

For sure the American president is speaking like a mad mullah. Death to Iran as opposed to death to America. It's a form of dialogue that is familiar to the counterpart I expect. As to how this will shake out, it's hard to tell. Politics at that level is very convoluted. The weight of it is shuddering to contemplate. Iran is duty bound to follow just war theory too in relation to its own population as a matter of natural law.
