ANTI-CATHOLIC PROPAGANDA IN THE 19TH CENTURYIntroduction
In the 19th century, anti-Catholic/Roman polemics in the USA multiplied and used the best propaganda tools of the time, starting with the opening of several new daily and weekly newspapers, the most violent of which was The Protestant, a paper founded by the Presbyterian pastor George Bourne in New York in 1830 (See Antony Chester, “The Monstrous Offspring of Babylon the Great”. At the Roots of American Anti-Catholicism, Rimini, Il Cerchio, 2026, p. 59).
Protestant tabloid sensationalism
The tone was very heated and filled with sensationalism, which remained the core of Protestant proselytism, based on scandalous gossip that presented Catholics, consecrated persons, and priests as essentially corrupt. This type of propaganda has continued to the present day through Hollywood (p. 60), in which pre-conciliar Catholicism is presented as inevitably and unfailingly characterized by widespread negligence, decadence, and intellectual and moral decline.
Catholicism equals “defeated and loser”
Catholicism is seen as the religiosity of the defeated and the underdog (just like Netanyahu, who in March 2026 spoke of Jesus as a failure and a loser and therefore far below Genghis Khan, the “Great Khan” or “Universal Lord” of the Mongol Empire, who lived in the 13th century).
Catholicism = “Impuritanism”
In short, Catholicism would have been a sort of "Impuritanism": that is, the diametral opposite of Puritanism, which instead would be "subsistent Purity itself." Indeed, for American Puritanism, everything that is not Anglo-American is essentially inferior, impure, and inconsistent.
In short, if St. Augustine in "De Civitate Dei" spoke of the "City of God opposed to that of the devil," Puritan Americanism speaks of the city of the devil or of the Antichrist (the Roman Church) in opposition to the city of God (Anglo/American Puritanism).
Anglo-Saxon world versus Latin world
The civilized world is only the Anglo/American Atlantic one (founded – admirably – on: Talmudism, Freemasonry, the Lutheran Reformation, the Anglo/American and French Revolutions, popcorn, Coca-Cola, chewing gum and finally the Statue of Liberty) and the Latin or Mediterranean one (founded – miserably – on Aristotle, Plato, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dante Alighieri, Giotto, Cimabue, the Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque cathedrals) is wild, uncultivated and uncivilized ... you just have to know how to be content ...
One should not be surprised, therefore, by Trump's oddities; they are innate to Americanism: "Nemo dat quod non habet"; that is, "rapae non dant sanguinem"; "agere sequitur esse": Trump can produce only and exclusively Trumpism, America Americanism.
In 1834, a Puritan fortnightly periodical in New York, entitled “The American Protestant Vindicator,” edited by a Protestant minister (W.C. Brownlee), was published. It stated: “Paperism is to be forever detested and execrated, not only by all pure and true Christians, but by every American patriot and philanthropist. The Roman priests are the slaves of Babylon the Great, the servants of the Red Dragon and the Beast; their faithful are led astray by them, and are thus cast into the bottomless pit of eternal damnation” (cit., p. 71).
The Jesuits, above all, were seen as the secret and special agents of the Vatican and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, of the Pope and Metternich, to infiltrate and Romanize America. Therefore, the Crusade was launched: "Either Rome/(Vienna) or Washington/(London)."
In short, it was a kind of head-on struggle between an army composed of the Papacy and the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy against another army composed of Puritan Calvinism and Americanist democracy (p. 73). It was a clash between two eras and two diametrically opposed and contrary ideas. This clash could not fail to lead to the First and Second World Wars and (God forbid) to the Third and final one... after which there would be no fourth "ex parvitate materiae."
In short, on one side European immigrants, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Roman Church and on the other North American nativists, the Democratic Republic of the United States.
Radical fanatical propaganda
As can easily be imagined, this Manichean propaganda carried out through newspapers, leaflets, posters, pamphlets, and later by Hollywood cinema, had a radicalizing and fanaticizing effect on the common people, exacerbating their anti-Catholic, anti-European, and anti-monarchic feelings.
Antony Chester does not hesitate to compare that period and climate to the one that occurred or was induced by television after September 11, 2001, against the Arab world, seen as the perpetrator of a crime and a "war of conquest" very similar to that committed by the Papists in the 19th century against the young and "pure-puritan" American democracy; some even compared the Taliban to the Vatican and Osama Bin Laden to John Paul II, "the champion of Christian fundamentalism," who in a certain way pushed the attackers of the "Two (... Three ...) Twin Towers" to their insane act (Antony Chester, p. 74 and Michelangelo Signorile, "New York Press," November 20, 2001, "The Gay-Bashing Pope"). The same fanatical and hysterical propaganda has resurfaced with Coronavirus19, so much so that it has "locked up" the entire world.
Finally, in 2001/2003, John Paul II was accused of not having blessed the "holy war" waged by the ultra-democratic Bush family against the dictatorial Iraq of Saddam Hussein (1990/2003); just as in March 2026, Trump himself attacked Pope Leo XIV for not having blessed his "holy war" against Ali Khamenei's Iran.
Conclusion
From 2nd-Century Gnosticism to 20th-Century Americanism
Judeo-Americanism is truly the problem of the present time. Indeed, while the old Rabbinic Judaism (of the 1st/2nd century AD), through Judeo-Christianity and Gnosticism, represented a failed attempt (thanks to the reaction of the Apostles and the Apostolic and Ecclesiastical Fathers of the 2nd/6th century) to suffocate the Church of Christ by Judaizing it, in the United States (potentially since the 18th century), Puritan Judeo-Christianity has prevailed pro tempore and has de facto invaded Europe as well (especially since the end of the two World Wars, 1918 and especially 1945).
“Nostra aetate”, 28. X. 1965
… Indeed, it even penetrated into Catholic circles with the Declaration “Nostra aetate” of the Second Vatican Council (28 October 1965) and the post-conciliar teaching of John Paul II begun in Mainz (17 November 1980) of the “Ancient Covenant ‘never revoked’”, which continues to this day, having been explicitly taken up again by Benedict XVI (17 February 2010, Speech at the Synagogue of Rome) and by Francis (see Letters to the Chief Rabbi of Buenos Aires and Rome).
The United States represents, in short, the "armed wing of the once (pre-1948) disarmed Judaism"; the "democratic crusade" against the doctrinal intransigence and dogmatic/theological (and, consequently, political/social) intolerance of (once fully) Christian Europe.
All this was possible because the entire American Puritan “tradition” was and is deeply imbued with post-Biblical or Talmudic Judaism, which has always hated Jesus Christ so much that it had him crucified.
In fact, the United States never experienced the so-called Middle Ages or theologically anti-Judaic European Christianity. America, therefore, was born without medieval roots and is devoid of doctrinal anti-Judaism.
Furthermore, American Puritanism provides a millenarian and carnally material (rather than genuinely literal) reading of the Old Testament, seeing in the United States the “precursor” of the “militant messiah” that would be the State of Israel.
Indeed, America considers itself a sort of new Zion or "neo-Holy Land" which – first, in the 18th century – was supposed to welcome the dispersed Jews (from 70/135 AD) and, therefore, theologically discriminated against in the old world and – then, in the 20th century – was supposed to prepare the birth of the brand new Zion, that is, the State of Israel (15 May 1948).
While 1°) Europe, although secularized, with the French Revolution emancipated (trying to assimilate) the individual Jew, but not Judaism as a people or religion; 2°) America – on the other hand – granted full freedom (religious, social and political) to Judaism, not seeking an assimilatory emancipation, but wanting to make it a nation again.
Therefore, the United States (led by England) is at the origin of Zionism (in the narrow sense) as a national and political idea and not just as a simple sentiment, or religious and ideal aspiration, which dreams and desires – romantically and wishfully – the “lost Homeland”, as every Israelite did from 70 AD until the 20th century (in the broad sense).
The United States therefore represents the world superpower at the service (scientifically organized and studied) of the birth of anti-Christian Talmudic Judaism as a politically organized and militarily super-gifted nation in order to obtain world temporal domination starting from Palestine.
Just as America lobbied and pressured Europe and Russia (then the USSR, and now Russia again) between the First and Second World Wars and during the so-called "Cold War," to grant full recognition to Judaism as a people, a religion, and a nation, so recently (with the Persian Gulf Wars of 1990-2003) it has pressured the Near, Middle, and Far East to fully recognize the State of Israel (both religiously and politically). However, it seems to me that this last step (which should have been definitive) has not succeeded; indeed, precisely today, at the moment of its greatest power, America seems to be beginning its downward spiral (like Europe in 1914). Since September 2001, with the defeat of the second war in Iraq (2003), with the setback in Afghanistan and the situation created in Syria, Turkey and Lebanon (2012/2013) and the one opened up in Palestine (2024/26) and above all in Iran (2025/26), America discovers itself to be a "giant with feet of clay", like all the worldly Empires that have succeeded one another in the history of humanity, which is facing its last battle: the war (perhaps atomic and global) against Putin's Russia through the proxy power of NATO/Ukraine (2014/2026), having already lost the economic one against the "BRICS" (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and the attempted invasion of Iran (May 2026).
Summing up
From what we have seen, it is clear that Roman Catholicism and Puritan Judeo/Americanism are absolutely irreconcilable, and that their relationship to each other is equivalent to yes (Roman Catholicism) = yes (Roman Catholicism); no (Judeo/Americanism) = no (Judeo/Americanism); yes (Roman Catholicism) ≠ no (Judeo/Americanism).
To deny it would mean to deny the principle of Identity and Non-contradiction, which is known and immediately evident to all.
