Una Voce Asks Leo XIV for Concessions - in View of the FSSPX’s Consecrations

Una Voce International - the largest international association of lay Catholics associated with the Mass of the Roman rite - published a February 3 statement regarding the announced consecrations of bishops for the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X without a papal mandate. The statement was signed by Joseph Shaw (President, England), Monika Rheinschmitt (Vice President, Germany), and Andris Amolins (Secretary, Latvia).

They write about the announcement: "Our ardent wish, shared by many Catholics of goodwill, is for the canonical regularisation of the FSSPX, which would enable its many good works to bear the greatest possible fruit. This announcement indicates that this outcome is a more distant prospect than it has seemed for many years."

The group shares the FSSPX's goal of making the Church's ancient liturgy available as widely as possible.

Their main claim: "We know many Catholics able to attend the Traditional Mass with all the necessary permissions from the Church’s hierarchy, such that it is not necessary for them to seek it in any irregular context.

We also know, however, that for others, attending the Traditional Mass has been made very difficult: in some places, this is despite the desire of qualified priests to celebrate it for the faithful, and even the willingness of the local bishop to allow this. This creates an environment in which the SSPX argument of a ‘state of emergency’ gains sympathy."

Una Voce urges the bishops and Pope Leo XIV "to be mindful of these pastoral realities, which are currently precipitating a crisis whose consequences are impossible to foresee".

Their summary: "The time to act is now."

Abp Vigano: Personally, I pray that the Society soon recognizes that the absence of a true pope explains both the necessity and the disorder.

"The group shares the FSSPX's goal of making the Church's ancient liturgy available as wide as possible."
WRONG!
"The SSPX's main goal is the formation of HOLY PRIESTS. These priests are given to the Church for the sanctification of souls by employing the means that the Church has always used:
1- The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, specifically the 'Mass of all Time'.
2- The preaching of..."

Una Voce may have the purest of intentions, but regularization would require 1 of 2 actions. The first, God forbid, the SSPX accept VCII entirely. The other is Rome accept the SSPX on their terms (the TRUE Catholic position) that VCII is completely anathema.
The equivocators at the highest levels of the FSSP , "thank the Holy Father" for allowing them to continue their mission all the while overlooking, and remaining silent on the abuses heaped upon other traditional groups. It is easy for Rome to allow their existence because Rome has nothing to fear. These words (paraphrased) from Abp. Lefebvre + seem to speak directly to what Una Voce is purposing: "... (Traditional groups) tell me that an agreement with Rome w[ill] open up for us a huge field for the apostolate. Maybe, but in a world of ambiguity, facing in two directions at once, w[ill] make us go rotten in the end." The saintly Abp. knows that to dialogue with the devil will only corrupt. May God Bless and Our Lady keep the SSPX!

Actually, they do not have. This grotesque letter is an evidence of it.

Una Voce International and the Latin Mass Society have heard with concern the announcement by the Superior General of the Society of St Pius X (SSPX), Fr Davide Pagliarani

Their only concern is to vegetate in peace inside the post-conciliar indult bubble, which BTW is, after Traditionis Custodes, very tiny, no matter what they try to imply in this letter.

Why would a Catholic be bothered by the traditional Mass celebrated by a priest ordained according to the rite? How could that be a problem?
And if there is a problem, it lies with those who have it.
