The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate have launched an app for the 1962 Breviarium Romanum. Provincial Sister Replaced
United States
Sister Margaret Timothy Sato has been replaced as the US-provincial of the Daughters of St. Paul in the United States – the Boston Globe has reported. Last year, Sr Sato filed a highly unusual lawsuit against Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley over pension issues. Before she was replaced, the order’s superior general, Sister M. Antonieta Bruscato, flew to Boston from Rome and met with the Cardinal. In that meeting, O’Malley and Sister Bruscato expressed dismay that the US province of the Daughters had sued the Cardinal rather than resolving their differences in a more amicable way. The local sisters …More

@ACLumsden - Too right! I'm still getting the hard copies of the Breviarium Romanum once Baronius Press releases them.

The order's Superior General of Sisters of St. Paul...Just take a look at her, that tells everything. 40-50 years ago, we never saw a nun without her veil, nor even was her hair exposed. No Filth Any More in the Church
Italy
John Allen of the National Catholic Reporter calls a “quiet revolution” the way the Vatican is run under the leadership of Benedict the XVI.

Allen concludes: “Now Benedict XVI has made it clear: No matter how accomplished a person or institution may be, if they're also involved in what the pontiff once memorably called the "filth" in the church, they're not beyond reach.”

The above are Allen's words not Benedict's and Allen, as usual, is trying to put a positive spin on a sad situation. As far as the “quiet revolution” goes, I'll believe it when heterodox and/or criminal bishops are disciplined. Until that happens, any talk about a “revolution” are just feel-good words said to appease the 'great unwashed'. Look at what they actually do, not what they say. Parishioners were to respectfully concede to the authority of the church, believing it would act appropriately. Tragically, that didn't happen. Instead we've seen failure after failure repeated over and over throughout the States and the world.

Despite this talk of “quiet revolution” what has changed? Humans, including some of the highest authority figures, are failing the Catholic Church and they refuse to clean house. To add insult to injury, these same bishops several weeks ago commissioned a self-serving puff piece

saying that homosexuality had nothing to do with sexual abuse within the Church. Dear Excellencies, If you continue to take the laity as gullible fools trusting your every word, you will continue to be looked upon as feckless hypocrites.

@Doina - What an interesting blouse - the unusual buttons give it and the whole ensemble an avant-garde look. 😎
Great that technology is making the ancient Divine Office more easily portable. But what happens if ones phone or tablet runs out of power or gets wet or falls and breaks? The book-form is more resillient I think.... 🧐

Regarding that most unfortunate order of Pauline sisters. Yet again we see how things fall apart when the habit is set aside. But how instructive that the superior general did not wear a habit, but the community in the photo did. Anyway, twill all be a thing of the past soon. We younger folk have utterly rejected that nonsense. 🙂
