Cardinal Justin Rigali has condemned US-President Barack Obama’s removal of limits on federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research. Cardinal Rigali is the chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities. According to him, the President’s decision is a sad victory of politics over science and ethics”. The Cardinal stressed that “this action is morally wrong because it encourages the destruction of innocent human life.” He added that ethically sound means for advancing stem cell science are readily available.
