The Bishop Who Asked the Pope to Stop Communion in the Hand

Kazakh auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider has visited Estonia on December 10 for the publication of his book “Dominus est” in Estonian language. In his book he defends the traditional way of receiving Holy Communion. During the presentation he explained that the present form of distributing communion has nothing to do with the practice of receiving communion in the early centuries. The new way was adapted in 1965 by some liberal Dutch priests from the Calvinists. Schneider’s book has been praised by the Holy Father. The bishop also revealed that he had asked Benedict to stop distributing Communion in the hand in Papal Masses. The answer was supportive. Only a few months later, all communicants have been asked to receive Holy Communion from the Pope only kneeling and on the tongue.

Zitas intense spiritual life included, after rising each day at 5:30, praying part of the Office, hearing several daily Masses (usually three), and reciting the Rosary. If she is raised to the altars, she will also be the model of a wife. The deep religiosity of her marriage is exemplified by the famous words of her husband, Bl. Charles, on their wedding day: "Now we must help each other into heaven!"

The headquarters of the Secretariat for the entry of Turkey into the European Union is a building confiscated from the Orthodox Christian community in the 90s the Undhimmi.com website reports. The building is located in Istanbul, in the well-known area of Ortakoy. Before the seizure, the building was used as a primary school for children of the Orthodox minority in Ortakoy. The reporter emphasizes that in this area once lived a thriving Orthodox community, now non-existent because of past purges against minorities, executed by the so called secular Turkish State.

This Bishop Schneider must be a pretty strong personality if the Pope listens to him... very interesting
