The Church investigation into reported Marian apparitions at Borg in-Nadur is expected to be concluded “within weeks”, a spokesman said. The result will be published
Anġelik Caruana claims the Virgin Mary appears to him at Borġ in-Nadur, in the limits of Birżebbuġa, every Wednesday. The television programme Xarabank recently dedicated a programme to the subject and, subsequently, psychiatrist Mark Xuereb was invited by the producers to publicly announce the outcome of his report on the matter. Dr Xuereb had been appointed to follow Mr Caruana by his former spiritual director, Fr Hayden Williams, a Capuchin friar.
However, on February 27, Dr Xuereb announced he could not divulge his findings because of a legal letter filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court. In it, Mr Caruana and his wife, Catherine, called on Dr Xuereb not to divulge information about him without his consent, in accordance with professional ethics.

By a legal letter registered in the First Hall of the Civil Court on Wednesday 25th February 2015, Mr Caruana and his wife have prevented the psychiatrist Mark Xuereb from revealing his conclusions contained in a report having over 20,000 words. The unveiling of the report was meant to be made in the programme Xarabank which two weeks earlier had presented a programme dealing exclusively on the alleged apparitions of the Lady. The Caruanas called on Dr Xuereb not to divulge information about Mr Caruana without his consent in line with professional ethics.
Speaking on the programme, Dr Xuereb said that a copy of the report has already been given to the Curia and that he had invited the Caruanas so that he could hand them the conclusions of his report.
Dr Xuereb has followed the case from 2006 to 2012 after being appointed by Mr Caruana’s then spiritual director, Fr Hayden Williams, a Capuchin friar. According to Dr Xuereb, Mr Caruana and his team stopped cooperating in 2012.

For a number of years, it has been alleged that certain phenomena and messages have been occurring at Borg in Nadur. In a spirit of discernment and evaluation of these alleged phenomena and messages, the authorities of the Church in Malta feel that the time is ripe to issue this directive, namely that such phenomena and messages are no longer to be announced and interpreted in the public fora. For this reason Mr Angelik Caruana will only attend activities at Borg in Nadur on the 26th of every month. This directive holds until the Church authorities announce otherwise. Meanwhile, the Church authorities will continue to receive and evaluate all the information and scientific research with respect to this case.
