A Catholic mother’s innovative way of bringing Gospel alive | Shalom World News
With Lent on the horizon, families everywhere are searching for meaningful and imaginative ways to help their children draw closer to Jesus. Kristen Combo, a Catholic mother and content creator, offered a heartfelt idea that makes the Gospel feel real for young hearts. In a video on Instagram, Kristen described how a simple community project blossomed: families gathered to paint small wooden peg dolls, each one representing someone who stood by Jesus during His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Every participant picked a character and painted several versions, creating a total of 26 unique figures. Later, the families came together to swap their creations, so each household could bring home a full set of these key Gospel figures. Kristen shared that this hands-on activity lets children truly experience the Gospel story, inviting them to touch, move, and play with the people who journeyed with Jesus. Yet, for Kristen, the magic of the project is not just in the finished dolls. The real treasure is found in the moments spent painting, praying, sharing stories, and deepening faith together as a family and community.
